“The aging population should not be seen merely as a challenge or burden, but as a vital opportunity to innovate our healthcare systems, improve quality of life, and harness the wisdom and experience that older adults bring to our communities.”
– Dr. Rockwood, Geriatrician, International expert on Frailty, Creator of the Clinical Frailty Scale
C-A Murray Consulting services support healthcare leaders, teams, and professionals in integrating evidence-based Frailty knowledge and principles of the Dignity of Risk (DoR) into the care of older adults.
-
Healthcare systems are increasingly challenged by the complexity of managing the health needs of older adults living with frailty.
-
Systems often invest heavily in additional resources and more long-term care beds, while overlooking core gaps in how frailty is understood, measured, and integrated into care planning.
-
At the same time, many older adults continue to encounter ageism and overprotective attitudes from well‑meaning healthcare staff, which can unintentionally limit or remove independence and autonomy earlier, or more extensively, than is necessary.
-
As a result, health systems will continue to unnecessarily admit older adults to hospital, leading to hospital-acquired deconditioning and other harms, while generating unsustainable demand for resources and long-term care that cannot be met—and often does not align with what older adults truly want.
As we navigate a period where up to 25% of our population will consist of older adults living with frailty, we face the critical challenge of reexamining and enhancing how we care for and support this diverse group and their complex needs.
